Kim graduated with an MCS degree from the Computer Science Department at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. As part of her studies, she conducted research on intrusion detection and threat hunting in the STS Lab. Kim is a graduate of the Illinois Computing Accelerator for Non-Specialists (iCAN) program Prior to participating in the iCAN program, she worked as a high school art teacher and collegiate cross country coach. After graduation, Kim was hired as an Assistant Security Engineer at the National Center for Supercomputing Applications.
