Deepak received his PhD from the Computer Science Department at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2020, where he was advised by Professor Michael Bailey. Deepak’s interest lied in computer security and privacy through the lens of Internet-wide measurements, specifically in how adversaries abuse Internet services to cause undue harm to end-users. He collaborated with the STS Lab on topics including USB security and threats posed by voice-controlled IoT devices. Following his graduation, Deepak completed a postdoc at Stanford University advised by Professor Zakir Durumeric before accepting a tenure-track position at the University of California San Diego.
